Combo Trip

If you don’t enjoy sitting in a boat on the ocean day after day but wish to come and experience the best saltwater salmon fishery in the world, this is the trip for you. You can split your time ocean fishing and fly fishing the plentiful streams of Haida Gwaii. The package includes three days of ocean fishing and two days of river fly fishing for resident cutthroat trout.

Summertime fly fishing Queen Charlottes' small coastal rivers is a magical experience. You will find yourself wading through shallow streams amongst the mossy green rainforest with giant hemlocks looming above while dancing dry flies across the surface. Dense spruce and cedar groves seem to exhale with each cast. Eventually you will be  swallowed into a world where anything seems possible.

The cutthroat trout at this time run from 10 to 22 inches and are very quick to attack a well presented fly. Fish hold wherever the water is deep enough, typically a pool at each bend in the river. The pools can be spread out at times so we usually end up walking a fair amount while fishing. The challenge lies in the interesting casts you require to present the fly. If you hit your mark, you will be rewarded with a fish.
