Regulations

When fishing Queen Charlottes in the salt, barbless hooks must be used for salmon. This is a regulation for all of British Columbia, both in freshwater and saltwater. The daily catch limits are what you are allowed to keep each day on the water. However, the combined daily limit for all salmon is four. These are the daily limits.
Chinook Over 45 cm 2
Chum Over 30cm 4
Coho Over 30 cm 4
Pink Over 30 cm 4
Sockeye Over 30 cm 4
Although there is a daily limit, there is also a possession limit. This is the number of fish you can have at any one time on your possession. That is the number you can bring home with you. The possession limits are double what the daily limits are.
You will also have to get a saltwater licence and a saltwater salmon stamp. All of this is completely different than if you already have a B.C. freshwater licence. If you are fishing freshwater and saltwater you will need licences for both. Children under 16 do not have to pay for a licence; however, they must carry one. Children must pay for a salmon stamp if they choose to harvest fish.
